Covid-19: The ANO signs protocol with Government and the DGS

The Portuguese National Association of Opticians (ANO), with the Government and the Directorate-General of Health (DGS), signed a cooperation protocol for the reopening of the economy. This protocol was created thanks to the collective effort of several associations – among them the ANO -, their association leaders and the Portuguese Commerce and Services Confederation (CCP) which autonomously and responsibly produced manuals and guidelines for health and good practices in the resuming of business activity.

The National Opticians Association (ANO) commissioned an economic study on the optical industry in Portugal from the Centre for Applied Studies (CEA) of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP). Its aim is to analyse the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the industry. The data will result in a set of concrete measures to support optical retailers.

Fabrióptica stores are not respecting the State of Emergency

The Portuguese National Association of Opticians (ANO) strongly condemns the conduct of Fabrióptica, which owns ‘Fábrica de Óculos do Cacém’ and ‘Chiado Eyeglass Factory’ in Lisbon. They are sending advertising messages to clients and potential customers, urging them to leave their homes to visit their stores in the middle of the State of Emergency, not complying with the legislation in force.
