Ver para Crescer delivered 630 new glasses in 2019
Throughout 2019, Ver para Crecer (VpC) carried out nine optical missions in several Spanish cities (Aranjuez, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Loja-Granada, Seville, Vallecas-Madrid, Zaragoza, Pamplona and Santa Cruz de Tenerife). 872 optical examinations were carried out, practically the proportion of ninety in each of the actions, and 630 new glasses were adapted and already delivered to the beneficiaries. In the actions corresponding to the year 2019, a total of 52 opticians-optometrists, 10 optics students and nine technicians participated voluntarily.
VpC is a project that brings visyal health to people at risk of social exclusion in Spain. Its activity began in 2015, to respond to the delicate situation in which thousands of people lived in Spain due to the economic crisis.
Since then, VpC has carried out optical missions throughout Spain – 36 so far – supporting the work of different local organizations and associations working in the field with the aim of visual examining all the population in need – especially children – and, free of charge, adapt prescription glasses, according to their visual needs and aesthetic preferences.
VpC is the result of a collaboration between Vision For Life, Essilor and the Cione Ruta de la Luz Foundation. While Vision For Live provides project logistics, material resources, technical support in each of the actions and ophthalmic lenses for the glasses, it is the volunteer opticians-optometrists of Ruta de la Luz who make the exams to the beneficiaries of the projects.
